Save 20% on LA Opera’s Akhnaten

Save 20% on tickets for LA Opera's Akhnaten for November 5, 10, and 17!
Click here or use promotion code 31424.

Featuring a mesmerizing score by Philip Glass that is filled with driving rhythms and powerful choral harmonies, Akhnaten comes to Los Angeles in a visually striking all-new production by renowned director Phelim McDermott. The LA Opera Orchestra is led by the brilliant young conductor Matthew Aucoin, LA Opera's new Artist in Residence.

In ancient Egypt, Akhnaten ascends to the throne with his bride Nefertiti and a bold vision that abandons the worship of many gods for just one: the Sun God. His attempt to alter the course of history with a single revolutionary idea is told with spellbinding music in a dazzling production bursting with unparalleled theatricality. Don’t miss the LA Opera premiere of a contemporary masterpiece.

R.A.D.D. Bike Ride & Arts District Neighborhood Watch Walk | Weekly on Wednesday Evenings

On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, DTLA Rendezvous joined residents of the Arts District for the weekly R.A.D.D. (Residents of the Arts District & Downtown) bike ride and walk.  The Arts District Neighborhood Watch Walk was led by resident Scot Ezzell and the R.A.D.D. bike club was led by Melissa Richardson Banks of Downtown Muse.

The walkers met at Pie Hole at 6:30pm and our first stop was the Traction Triangle at Bloom Square where Sci-Arc's Earthwave Installation was put up just days before.

We then walked around the neighborhood a bit and saw amazing art all over the walls.  This one (above) was my favorite!  Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to tell you where this is.

We met up with the bikers at their meeting spot at 7pm at Eat. Drink. Americano.
When both groups were done with the biking & walking, we all went back to eat, drink, and mingle!

After some walking, we somehow met up with the bikers again at Handsome Coffee, where, on Wednesdays from 5-8pm, The Produce Project has their weekly Pop-Up Farmstand bringing in hand selected & locally sourced produce!

Last stop was a special presentation at TRACTIONARTS, a video venue/window on Traction Avenue that features artistic videos that rotate every 2 weeks.  We saw the Childhood Bedroom by Beatriz Cortez.

Join the R.A.D.D. (Residents of the Arts District & Downtown) for a bike ride and the Arts District Neighborhood Watch Walk every Wednesday evening and explore the Downtown LA Arts District!
